DID YOU KNOW?
The MPEG Reflector Appliance is designed to work with live MPEG-2 transport streams (MPEG2-TS) that contain MPEG-2 or H.264 encoded video. The Reflector Appliance can take in a unicast stream that originates from a unicast encoder, or a MPEG Reflector License can be added to a Vision² server in order to create a unicast stream from a multicast encoder.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: UNITED STATES

OVERVIEW
The MPEG Reflector Appliance is ideal for those organizations that need to deliver live streaming video to remote locations. The Reflector Appliance takes in a unicast MPEG stream from the WAN and re-transmits it on the LAN as a multicast video stream. This allows the remote location to use WAN bandwidth efficiently by only requiring a single WAN connection to the source stream. And it minimizes the impact on the LAN by having all viewers watch a single multicast stream.

When used with a Vision² system, the MPEG Reflector Appliance brings bandwidth-managed live video to all an organization's remote locations.

COMMON APPLICATIONS
When corporations want to deliver a live video to all their locations, they will frequently encounter bandwidth issues due to the number of remote users that want to watch the video. By placing a MPEG Reflector Appliance at each remote location, the corporation can avoid network bottlenecks by managing the number of connections back to the source.
